What are UV Lashes?

UV Lashes are mostly the same as regular lashes. The big difference is how they are applied! Regular lashes are applied using a glue which takes around 24 hours to dry (which is why we tell you not to get them wet). UV lashes on the other hand are applied using glue and then curing that glue instantly with a LED light.

Is UV Light Safe?

Ultraviolet (UV) light is a type of light that's all around us, naturally found in sunlight and used in various devices like sunbeds, nail lamps, and counterfeit money detectors. It's measured in wavelengths, called nanometers (nm). Not all UV light is the same, so it's important to understand the differences.

The UV Lash System I use has been tested by experts to ensure it’s safe for your skin and eyes during normal use. Here are the key points to know:

  • LED Technology: The system uses intense LED light to quickly cure the lash adhesive.

  • Wavelength: The light operates at 405 - 410 nm, mostly violet light with a small amount of UVA.

  • Adhesive Activation: The UV glue contains a special ingredient that activates when exposed to this specific light, turning the adhesive gel into a hard plastic. This means it won't harden in regular sunlight.

By understanding these points, you can feel confident in the safety and effectiveness of the UV Lash System.

So, how do I ensure the UV light used for curing your lash extensions is safe?

​

My UV Lash System uses only 10 Watts, much lower than the 36W used in gel nail lamps and far less than the 5000W in professional sunbeds. This lower power greatly reduces any risk of adverse effects. The UV Lash System is designed for very short exposure times, with each lash taking only 1-2 seconds to cure. For 100 lashes, the total exposure is just 2.5 minutes, but the light constantly moves, not staying on one spot. Unlike tanning beds and nail lamps that require 20 minutes or more of exposure, this system is much quicker and safer. Additionally, the UV lamps used emit UVA rays, which have longer wavelengths and are safer for human exposure compared to UVC rays.

What are the Benefits?

There are numerous advantages for you as a client with UV lashes! Here are some of them:

  1. Your lashes are fully cured in just 1 to 2 seconds, allowing you to get them wet right away and reducing the need for extensive aftercare.
     

  2. The glue is unaffected by humidity and temperature, resulting in longer retention of your lashes. Many clients report getting an extra week or more out of their lash extensions!
     

  3. Around 8 out of 10 people who are allergic to carbon black in lash glue can now enjoy lash extensions again.
     

  4. The glue produces minimal vapours, eliminating watery eyes and providing greater comfort for those with sensitive eyes.
     

  5. You won't experience any stinging of the eyes.
     

  6. Due to instant curing, your lash sets will be up to 30 minutes quicker than usual meaning more time to do the fun stuff!
     

  7. No need for bonders at the end of the set, you are ready to go as soon as I finish lashing. 

What about Removal?

Removing UV lashes is just as straightforward as removing regular lash extensions, so you don't need to worry about them staying on forever!

Will I Still Need a Patch Test?

Yes, a patch test is still necessary for this service, as it is for any other beauty treatment I provide.

    Yes, I require a £10 non-refundable booking fee to secure your booking. £10 will be taken from each service you book, so for example if you book for 1 service the booking fee will be £10 and if you book in for 2 services the booking fee with be £20. This booking fee ensures that your appointment is reserved exclusively for you. It's part of my commitment to provide personalised and dedicated service to each of my clients. The booking fee will be deducted from your total service cost at the end of your appointment. Please note, this booking fee is non-refundable as it covers the initial reservation of your appointment slot.   • Do I need to prepare anything before my appointment?
    Depending on the treatment you've selected, there may be some preparation required beforehand. I have provided detailed instructions through the Fresha app when you book your appointment. If you're still unsure or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
  • Do you offer packages or group discounts?

    For clients under the age of 18, I require full written consent from a parent or carer. This consent should be provided at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment. Failure to provide this consent may result in the cancellation of your appointment and forfeiture of any deposit paid.
